ShortKeys is a utility that allows you to set up replacement text or paragraphs for any given number of user defined keystrokes. Anytime a user defined keystroke combination is typed in, it will be replaced with the replacement text. Let me explain the way you would use this. Say for example I am always typing my email addresses. dscale1@attglobal.net or debbie@scalesfamily.com. Or really any sentence or paragraph or something you type a lot. I could set it up so that all I have to do is type period ds and this would expand to dscale1@attglobal.net. Afere you install the program, you can run shortkeys lite from your programs page. Then press insert f11 and enter on shortkeys then open shortkeys on the context menu. You can arrow up and down through the listbox of entries you define and find everything in the menus. You would use control A to add an entry, control E to edit, or control R to remove . So let's take an example. I would press control A. I would type in .ds in the original shortcuts edit. I would tab and type in the replacement text dscale1@attglobal.net in the edit area. You can press alt U for update or tab to update and enter. That's it. One thing when you first use it, is go to the options menu with alt O and arrow down and enter on both close button hides or minimizes and show in system tray to check them if they aren't checked. That way after you bring it up from the system tray if you hit alt f4, it won't exit the program but will minimize it to the system tray. It has to be running in the system tray to work. So now for example when if I press .ds all together like this, dscale1@attglobal.net well you see what it did, ha ha, it expaned to my full email address. Some of you might find this useful if you have text that you have to type all the time. Oh one recommendation. Don't just use period and one letter. For example if you used .c then say in IE, everytime you went to type a URL that had .com, when you typed the .c it would expand to the replacement text. You don't have to use period, you could come up with other key combinations, that is just the method I have chosen.
