Answer: You can turn on the JAWS cursor announcement feature to hear the hourglass announcement. To do this, perform the following: 1. Press INSERT+F2 to open the Run JAWS Manager dialog. 2. Press ENTER to select the Configuration Manager from the list. 3. Press CTRL+SHIFT+D to open the default configuration file. 4. Press ALT+S to open the Set Options menu and press C to open the Cursor Options... dialog. 5. JAWS focus is placed on the check box labeled Notify when cursor changes shape; this check box is not checked by default. 6. Press the SPACE BAR to toggle the check box on. 7. Press ENTER to exit the dialog, then CTRL+S to save the setting change. 8. Press ALT+F to open the File Menu and press X to exit; or you can simply press ALT+F4 to close the JAWS Configuration Manager. When JAWS is otherwise quiet while your system is retrieving information, starting an application, or otherwise busy, you will hear the hourglass cursor announced.
