Weather Aloud is a fully functional fully accessible program for obtaining Weather information. it is extremely accessible to Jaws and it has its own speech output as well. This voice can't be changed as of yet but the ability to do so is promised by its manufacturers in a soon to be released update. The program can be accessed through an icon in your start menu, programs menu or desktop if you wish. Once it is launched, it affords users the opportunity to create a list of selected cities for which they are interested in obtaining weather information. However, the information that can be retrieved is not limited to these cities. it has a random feature which takes you through a virtual tour of the world via weather information. you can obtain current information or five day forecasts for selected cities. it features Fahrenheit or centigrade temperatures but does not yet offer barometric information in anything other than inches. Technical support via email is almost instantaneous and those who created this product are well aware of jaws and have even had the product tested by some at henter Joyce in the past. it is shareware and runs for fifteen days before dying. but it can be purchased for $19.95 American. and for that price it is a very versatile program and a good value. note: All features and menus are accessible with Jaws but when in the "my cities" list in the main window it is not yet possible to hit a letter and advance to the first city beginning with that letter. And Jaws doesn't always verbalize the name of the city as you arrow down through the list but this is easily remedied by doing a say line (insert 8) or accessing the "my cities" list through the read menu on the menu bar. nextup Technologies the manufacturer of Weather Aloud has two other products that it bundles for sale with it but they are much less accessible with jaws. In fact I'd venture to say that they aren't easily accessible at all. Regarding Weather Aloud, all issues with Jaws have been reported to the manufacturer as well as wishes for weather warning alerts and barometric information translation into other measurement units. They seem eager to please so stay tuned for future updates and enjoy the weather.
