MightyFax Instructions I was able to successfully copy and transmit a fax, using MightyFax with my HP4C scanner and JAWS37U as follows: Sending Fax 1. Clicked on HP DeskScan II. 2. Clicked on HP ScanJet Copy Utility. 3. Clicked on Printer setup. 4. Arrowed down to MightyFax driver and entered on OK. 5. Clicked on Copy. 6. Enter the fax number to be called. 7. Tab and enter the Name of the person (or company) fax is directed to. 8. Tab and enter the subject. 9. Tab and enter on "OK". 10. Your scanner will copy the document and you will be ask if you want to go to MightyFax now? 11. Answer "yes" or "no". 12. If you answered "yes" you will be taken to the MightyFax screen, where you can tab through the various selections and if you are ready to send your fax: tab to "send" and enter, this will take you to the next screen where you can enter on "send now". 13. The above will create a file named "fax0000.apx" in the "c:\program files\mfax\send\" folder. The alternative to the above is to create a document in a word processor(word or wordpad exc): 1. Click on print (ctrl+P). 2. Turn on the "jaws" cursor, go to the top (printer group box), arrow down once and left click on your printer, then arrow (up or down) untill you find "MightyFax", tab to "print" and hit enter. 3. Follow steps 6 through 13 above. Receiving Fax I have created a "Fax" folder on my computer. These instructions are bassed on having the computer plugged into the house phone line and using Openbook 5.01 to read the fax document: 1. Enter on "MightyFax", on the programs menu. 2. Enter on "MightyFax" (the third item on the MightyFax sub menu. 3. Tab down to the "receive button" and enter on it, this assumes you have knowledge someone is sending you a fax immediately. Once you have entered on the "Receive button" your computer is going to answer all incomming calls untill you put the computer back into the "Send" mode. 4. Upon the completion of the fax transmition (the program will let you know the fax is complete) enter on "Send Button", this will release your phone line. 5. The fax will be in the "C:\program files\mfax\receive\faxxxxx.apf" (where xxxx is a number), this file must be converted to a "pcx" file for "OpenBook" to read it. 6. Arrow up to the "sort button" and enter on it, invoke the "jaws cursor" and go to the bottom of the page and left click on "incoming faxes". 7. Arrow (once) to the "View button" and enter on it, invoke the "jaws cursor", left click on "export menu". 8. Arrow down to "export this page as pcx file" and enter on it. 9. This will bring up a edit field to enter the file name to be exported to (c:\fax\fax1.pcx). 10. Tab to "save" and enter on it. 11. Bring up "OpenBook". 12 Hit "alt+G" (for Settings). 13. Arrow down to "Scanning Settings", hit enter. 14. Enter "F" (for fax) and hit enter. 15. Hit "space bar" (for scan). 16. This will open a edit box for the name of the fax file (c:\fax\fax1.pcx). 17. Tab down to "OK" and hit enter. 18. Your converted fax (to .pcx) file will be read.
