"QuickMix" will save your volume settings. It will save them as a file that 
when you hit enter on it will restore your volume settings and recording settings
back exactly the way they were at the time you save the settings. You can save it
with a name of for example Volume. Then find the Volume.qmx file in my documents
and press the windows application and choose the send to menu.  Then enter on 
desktop (create shortcut).  Press alt enter on the icon on the desktop and tab to 
the shortcut field and make a hot key like "alt,ctrl plus V. Now if
your volume happens to get muted or out of whack in any way, just hit alt,
ctrl V and all is as it was.
