EXTRACTING MP3'S FROM A M3U PLAYLIST While it is possible to do this another way, this is how I do it, since it works! I will use the ACB Radio website as an example 1. When you land on a link for a specific broadcast, press enter. 2. This is streaming audio, so your audio player should open, and the sound should begin. This is one way to verify that the link is valid. 3. Close the audio player, and you should be right back at the link you activated. If not, relocate the link, but do not press enter this time. 4. Now press the applications key, and select, save target as, from the resulting menu, and press enter. Note: the applications key is located to the left of the right control key, on standard keyboards. 5. You should get a, download dialogue, so navigate the dialogue as you normally would for any download, saving the file to a folder of your choice, or the default. 6. When the download is complete, navigate to the location where you saved the file. 7. Go to the applications key again, and select, open with, from the resulting menu, and press enter. 8. In this dialogue, you should get a list of programs to choose from for opening the file. 9. Select Notepad, and press enter. 10. When the file opens in Notepad, you will find several lines with urls, which are direct links to the individual mp3's that comprised the original broadcast. 11. Move to one of these lines, and then press the home key to make sure that the cursor is at the beginning of the line. 12. Now, press shift and the end keys together to select the entire line. 13. Copy the selected text to the clipboard, and then open Internet Explorer. 14. Press control + O, to open the address bar, and paste the text there, and press enter. 15. You will get a download dialogue, so once again, navigate it as you would for any download, and save the file in the same manner as described above. 16. Now when you go to the location where you saved the file, you will see a file with a number, and a .mp3 extension. Note, Generally speaking, if you had previously listened to the broadcast, then you would know about where the article of interest will be in the list. This is helpful, since you can select only the files you want from the m3u playlist, and not need to download the entire group of files. Of course, if you hadn't heard the entire program, you will need to download, and listen to each file to locate the one, or ones you want. 17. When you have finished downloading the files you want, then you can close Internet Explorer, and Notepad. 18. Once you have all of the files you want, you can rename them to suit yourself.
